Volunteer With Us

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Working Class Acupuncture (WCA)!

Volunteers bring a welcoming presence to patients in WCA clinics. Volunteer help is a major part of how WCA is able to offer acupuncture at affordable rates! We are so grateful for our volunteers!

Volunteer Opportunities

Position: Reception Volunteer

Reception volunteers directly contribute to creating a warm and welcoming environment for all WCA patients. They are often the first contact with new patients, so they answer general questions about the clinic and community acupuncture. They regulate the flow of patients entering the treatment room, accept payment, and schedule appointments. Reception volunteers work alongside other volunteers and acupuncture staff to provide accessible acupuncture.

WCA Volunteers Are:

Passionate About WCA’s Mission – Understand and deeply resonate with WCA’s mission of service to the community. WCA lowers barriers to acupuncture care in as many ways as possible and for as many people as possible.

Friendly – community acupuncture is community-oriented, and receptionists bring the community into the clinic. WCA volunteers are encouraged to communicate in a warm and welcoming manner

Reliable/Dependable – the rest of clinic operations depend on reliable and consistent receptionists. Volunteers commit to show up for weekly scheduled shifts and stay in regular contact with coordinators

Committed & Timely – able to commit to a weekly 4-hour shift, same day & time each week

Detail-Oriented – keeping the clinic in good working order means keeping up with projects and details regularly…

Computer Literate – we can train you, but innate computer savvy is greatly appreciated

Confidential –  reception deals with lots of personal information, so confidentiality is key!

Flexible & Understanding – sometimes other volunteers need time off. Part of volunteering at WCA is occasionally considering covering a shift for another volunteer, in the same way they do for you. It’s a group effort to cover each other’s shifts once in a while…

Safe – volunteers follow all of WCA’s safety policies and procedures, including those related to infectious diseases such as COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses

Love Community Acupuncture! – WCA VOLUNTEERS LOVE COMMUNITY ACUPUNCTURE. WCA wants volunteers who want to get acupuncture and love acupuncture as much as we do
